CHILD POVERTY AWARENESS DAY

BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM

CPA Day

Nearly 1 in 6—16.2% of all children nationwide are living in poverty. The total has increased yearly by 1 million since 2019.

As a result, children are by far the largest demographic group facing the effects of poverty, daily.

This is true in New York City, where 1 in 3 kids live in poverty.

RIVER FUND launched the nation’s first ever ‘Child Poverty Awareness Day’ in 2013. CPA DAY evolved from our efforts to mitigate expenses parents face in providing essentials for the new school year.

Our Back-to-School Program provides each child with age and grade specific School Supplies. Education is the foremost component in our effort to break the cycle of poverty.
