Our Mission

RF Full Heart

'to feed and empower those we serve to move

beyond the lines of poverty'

OUR WORK

On the ground for more than 30 Years...  RIVER FUND, a Poverty Frontline Center in New York City, knows and understands the contributory factors that cause the syndrome we commonly call “poverty.”

Poverty is the intersection of multiple challenges in the life of families, individuals, and seniors, which in combination become overwhelming.

2.2 million struggle with hunger...

more than 1 in 4 New Yorker lives on the lines of poverty.

THREE TIERS OF ENGAGEMENT

RIVER FUND ELEMENTS (1)

RIVER FUND uses three integrated channels in our methodology:

FOOD ACCESS - EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS - BENEFITS CENTER

All three tiers are “integrated” within our Mission.

The core of our work is to guide and empower those we serve to move off the lines of poverty.

RIVER FUND accomplishes this through our ‘Family-by-Family Approach’

Apples

FOOD ACCESS

RIVER FUND distributes more than 1,000,000 pounds of groceries and needed essentials monthly, to over 5,000 households in 40 plus zip codes, per week, making RIVER FUND one of the largest providers of emergency food in New York City.

Educational Pathway 3

EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS

RIVER FUND approaches access to education as the main realistic tool for families to break generational poverty. Supporting students throughout their educational journey, and ultimately, their gainful employment.
